Chiliz, the leading blockchain provider for the sports and entertainment industry, is thrilled to announce a truly unique collaboration with English Premier League club, Aston Villa FC, for the integration of the club’s limited edition commemorative sticker album, created in celebration of its 150th anniversary, into the Chiliz Chain.
Launched at last week’s Premier League fixture with Liverpool, fans can now redeem digital collectibles of stickers for each home game at Villa Park, previously only attainable in physical sticker form, via Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) technology — the standard protocol for proof of attendance — featuring in matchday programmes.
Open to Aston Villa’s entire fan base, the album’s digital extension which has already seen over 18,000 collectibles redeemed, features eight stickers per home game to be collected as one digital collectible.
By redeeming collectibles throughout the rest of the 2024/25 season, fans will be able to win prizes from an unprecedented catalogue of rewards including training ground visits, match tickets and signed merchandise – blending the worlds of physical and the digital to create an exciting additional layer of engagement for fans.
Villa taking further steps on Chiliz Chain
In 150 years, Aston Villa has built up one of the most successful football clubs in UK history and provided its fans with generation-lasting memories on the pitch. But it’s through the power of Web3 technologies the club can truly capitalize on its ‘on the pitch’ success to provide a new generation of memories off it.
