We’ve launched a bold new website, with an even bolder new look. Here, we dive into why it was needed, how the creative vision took shape, and how it was influenced by our growth from creators of Socios.com and Fan Tokens into the leading layer-1 blockchain for sports.


The truth is that most people still know us for Socios.com and Fan Tokens. And that’s cool – we get that. But we’ve evolved! And, naturally, we’re really keen for people to know about it.

Fan Tokens and Socios.com are still absolutely at the core of our vision, but our horizons have broadened.

We’ve got our own Layer-1 for Sports and Entertainment – Chiliz Chain. It’s been around since May 2023, and we’ve been working hard – laying down the tech, adding new partners, building a top-class validator network, which includes big names like OKX and Animoca – and the world’s first sports team validator – Paris Saint-Germain.

The word is getting out there. More and more developers and brands are coming to the chain every day, and we know from the many conferences and events we attend that it’s no longer just  ‘Oh Chiliz, you are the guys who made Fan Tokens and Socios.com, right’ – it’s ‘Chiliz – ahhh you guys have your own blockchain now!’

Our ambitions burn bright!

But our ambitions burn much brighter than mere changes in the nature of acknowledgements at industry gatherings!

Our vision is to change the way fans engage with their passions by creating the world’s biggest and most trusted decentralised Web3 ecosystem for sports and entertainment properties to deliver products and services that bring fans and brands together.

Sounds ambitious. But, so it should. We’ve got a killer USP in Fan Tokens – the biggest digital asset class in sport – already sitting on the chain and ready to be plugged into new Web3 products, services and experiences – and with it the biggest sports network (70+  of the biggest names in sports – Man City, Atletico de Madrid, Barca, Juve, the aforementioned PSG – the list goes on).

We’ve got the experience, too. We know what it takes to scale up blockchain powered mainstream products – just look at Socios.com, with its 2M+ Fan Token wallets.

But we need a new look to match our broadening horizons, and all the new possibilities that lie before us – and this is where Lutum comes in.

Lutum is a series of striking, focused, athletic sports characters moulded from ‘digital clay’ (stay with us…) existing in a parallel digital universe (stay with us…!) where possibilities abound.  Their world is new, it’s raw, it’s unfinished – still evolving, and it’s bursting with explosive potential.

Which – if you think about it – matches where we’re at.

Those characters don’t just represent us – they represent everyone connected with the chain – that’s the talented developers and innovative brands building on the chain, it’s the passionate Chiliz community (shout-out to all the Chilizens!) supporting the growth and believing in our vision – and it’s the teams, and everyone else, who is part of this exciting new sports ecosystem.

We’re quite proud of Lutum and our new-look website, and we hope you like it, too.

But it didn’t happen overnight. From early sketches through to the final designs, the creation of Lutum and its rollout across the new website – and all our assets – real-life and digital – was down to the hard work and ingenuity of our talented brand and creative team.

OH!  In case you were wondering, ‘Why Lutum?’ – let us explain.Lutum, derived from Latin, means “mud without shape”—a metaphor for clay in its rawest, most mouldable state. It symbolizes potential, something waiting to be formed.
